While preparing to relocate this business we received news that the home our father built was destroyed yesterday.
My father bought an 80 acre farm to build my mother a home; but my mother refused to live on a farm. So every spring my father would take us to the farm to till the ground and plant vegetables and some underground fruits. He bought her 8 acres in the suburbs. My mother said she needed privacy. She told him that she wanted to be able to walk around her house inside and out naked and no one see her. My father said he would built a wall around her property. My mother said “No! A wall would make me feel like I was in a prison or a cage.” My father said ” Then I’ll plant you trees around your property and your house.”
One day my parents drove to a Tree Nursery so my mother could pick out the trees she liked. She liked one tree, “How much?” She liked another tree, “How much?” After the 6th or 7th tree she liked, my father turned to the owner of the Tree Nursery and asked “How much do you want for this Nursery?”
Although my father was a physician, he said he needed to learn how to treat, transfer, replant and landscape for her. Needless to say, before one tree was transferred from the Nursery to my mother’s home, my father was a licensed Horticulturalist.
Six years ago extreme financial difficulties forced me to walk away from the estate my father built from the ground up. When I left that place I never returned. And although I still live in the same city, about 4 miles away, I have never even passed by the street.
I received news yesterday that the home my father built was destroyed. Last night I saw a photo of the house I grew up and lived in my entire life , until 6 years ago, and I did not recognize it. It was foreign to me.
Ana my beautiful darling niece, do not be sad; be happy and of good cheer. We are all moving forward and will soon sit among each other and enjoy family. And just like the trees planted by our father, we too have seeds to sow in good ground.
So, Ana, get ready, reconciliation is just around the corner. I love you. And yes…
