I am working in an environment and culture that is different from my own. All of my life I have heard educators and elders say “never deny your culture,” Personally, instead of shunning the difference, I appreciate the fact that as human beings our different religious and cultural practices do not make any one person less than the other; it simply makes our way(s) of life different. And differences when joined with tolerance is strength. The WAYS of mankind are a part of who and what we are in this earth as a whole.
A group of people, a diverse tolerant group, brings about healthy competition with positive change. In order for there to be positive change the practice of patience must be exercised. However, you must understand that what is good for one person may not be good for you. Just like medicines with side effects there may be situations and environments, foods, activities or even people that produce a good reaction in some people and a bad reaction in other people. You do not have to deny yourself the good that does not harm you, just remember moderation.
So on your journey of proper diet, good nutrition, fitness and a sound mind move forward with discernment and self control while staying focused on a healthy better you.
